Walter was our accompanist and tutor for many years until his retirement in 2022, and many of us benefitted from his encouragement and support during rehearsal. His musical incisiveness, couple with his warm personality and humour, were always to the fore.
In 2013, Walter was awarded with the British Empire Medal for services to music. He was one of Scotland’s most versatile musicians and was well known in the musical community in Fife and across Scotland.
We were all delighted when Walter became an Honorary Vice President of the St Andrews Chorus in 2022, which was particularly poignant when only a few months later we heard of his passing on 3 February 2023.
With his wife, Sheila and their family’s approval, we dedicated our Spring concert in March 2023 to Walter’s memory
